ABOUT THE AWARDS
The Institute of Building Awards programme began in 1994, with the initial emphasis being on recognising the achievements of project managers running commercial construction projects. Over the years the name, categories and judging criteria have changed to continue to reflect the changing environment. The result is that the New Zealand Building People Awards not only reflects the current industry but also points to where we need to get to in the future.
The New Zealand Building People Awards are open to anyone in the building industry, and entries are judged by a panel of senior construction practitioners.
WHO CAN ENTER THE AWARDS
The New Zealand Building People Awards are open to those who participate in the building of Aotearoa’s built environment.
Nominees must be based in New Zealand and legally allowed to work here with the project tied to their nomination in New Zealand, and for the ‘Cost-band’ categories, have been practically completed (the issuing of a CCC is not a prerequisite) during the period 1 January 2022 to 18 August 2023.
Nominees are likely to be drawn from the following roles: Construction Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Managers, Sustainability Managers, Digital Managers, Property Managers (just about any role with manager at the end of it), Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Suppliers, Academics, and Students…but if you don’t fit into one of those boxes don’t let that limit you!
JUDGING OF THE AWARDS
Natasha Possenniskie is the Convener of Judging of the Awards in 2023. Natasha is a passionate construction industry professional with extensive experience in New Zealand and abroad, spanning both public and private sectors. She is the Founding Director of Urban Outcomes Limited.
